Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has yet to submit his provisional squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite widespread reports suggesting that the Malian tactician had already handed over his preliminary squad list to those upstairs at the Nigeria Football Federation, these reports are unfounded.
As of Thursday, November 27, the NFF has not received any list, which accounts for the delay in announcing the provisional squad.
Sources indicate that Chelle may still be finalising the roster, taking into account injuries and players nearing a return to full fitness.
For instance, one of his key starting XI players, Benjamin Fredrick, has been ruled out of the tournament in Morocco following a training ground injury.
Meanwhile, midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is expected to return to action shortly after being reinstated in Lazio's Serie A squad.
Nigeria, three-time Afcon champions, have been drawn in Group C, opening their campaign against Tanzania before facing Tunisia and Uganda.
As part of their preparations for the tournament in Morocco, Chelle's side will face record champions Egypt in a high-profile friendly in Cairo on December 14.
