Stoke City-owned midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has put German Bundesliga clubs on alert by admitting that he would love to play in the top-tier of German football.
Etebo announced himself on the African stage at the 2015 U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal, winning the top scorer award with five goals, which made him one of the most wanted African youngsters.
The former Warri Wolves star would later earn a move to Feirense, from where he joined Spanish La Liga side Las Palmas on loan for the second half of the 2017-2018 season, before a permanent switch to Championship club Stoke City in the summer of 2018.
Having impressed the leadership of Udinese while undergoing trials in 2014, the Bianconeri could have been Etebo's first club in Europe but were not willing to meet Warri Wolves' asking price for the midfielder, and he's not thinking of playing in the Italian Serie A for the time being.
"I love the Bundesliga. To be fair I didn't think about the Italian League," Etebo told the Punch in an Instagram chat.
"When I was growing up I have always got the awareness in me that I want to play in the Bundesliga.
"I am not saying it is the greatest league, it's just the love I have got for the Bundesliga.
"I have played in Spain, in England and then Portugal. If I have to move, it's going to be Bundesliga."
Etebo has made 20 appearances in La Liga, with six coming in the colours of Getafe, where he's on loan until June 2020.
