Ross Barkley , who has Nigerian blood flowing in his veins, has been handed his first England call up for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.<br /><br />19 - year - old Barkley has been rewarded by manager Roy Hodgson for his fine form since the start of the season, and he netted for Everton in the 2 - 2 draw with Norwich City on August 17.<br /><br />Roy Hodgson told reporters : '' Players like Barkley, [Raheem] Sterling and [Andros] Townsend can make a difference and in a team they can be players who make a big impact and help you win.<br /><br />"They are there on merit and it's nice that they are younger and have a future in front of them."<br /><br />In case you were unaware, Barkley is eligible to represent Nigeria through his father Peter Effanga, who resides in Liverpool and works at Getrag Ford Transmission plant.<br /><br />Photo Credit : uefa.com<br />
