Former Nigeria captain Sunday Oliseh has taken to social media to clarify statements about never coaching the Super Eagles again.
In February 2016, a month before an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt, the former Ajax Amsterdam and Juventus midfielder stepped down as Super Eagles coach, citing contract violations, lack of support from the Nigeria Football Federation and unpaid wages.
If Olsieh's latest statement is anything to go by, there is still bad blood between himself and the leadership of the Nigerian Federation, with the 1994 AFCON winner suggesting that foreign coaches hired by the NFF have better working conditions than the local coaches.
"It has been brought to my knowledge some false interpretations that are being given to the interview I gave to the Punch on Instagram two days ago so I think it it necessary to clarify certain things," Oliseh said on Instagram.
"To start with I will never abandon my country Nigeria, I am a proud Nigerian and I will always be available to help my country.
"What I said clearly on this interview was that I was asked if I was proposed if I would accept to come back to coach the Super Eagles.
"What I would like to clarify is that as long as the sitution is at is now, as long our own citizens are not being given the right treatment and are not being allowed to get the same working conditions like foreigners get when they come to coach our motherland I am not interested in coaching."
While Oliseh was coaching the Super Eagles, he gave international debuts to English Premier League stars Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi and Wilfred Ndidi.
