FC Dallas striker Tesho Akindele has turned his back on Nigeria after accepting a call - up to represent the Canadian National Team in their World Cup qualifiers against Dominica next week. <br /><br />The 23 - year - old can also don the colours of the United States and trained with the squad in January but did not make the 23 - man roster for friendlies against Chile and Panama.<br /><br />“At the end of the day, my whole life I’ve been a Canadian, and I’ve always thought about playing for the Canadian national team.” Akindele said to MLSSoccer.com. <br /><br />“So I kind of thought that was my goal always. So that’s what I should go for.<br /><br />“It’s exciting.
