Former Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh has praised Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyeamachi for his impressive performance against Morocco in the Afcon semifinal clash in Rabat.
Onyeamachi delivered a disciplined defensive display to neutralise Morocco's key threat, Brahim Diaz, who had gone into the encounter as the tournament's top scorer with five goals.
Diaz, the leading scorer at Afcon 2025 with five goals, was aiming to become the first player in history to score in six consecutive matches at the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Olympiacos defender kept the Real Madrid winger quiet throughout regulation time before Diaz was substituted for Ilias Akhomach in extra time.
Reacting to the game, Oliseh commended Onyeamachi's effort, noting that the Nigerian defender successfully matched Diaz's intensity and influence.
"Bruno seems to be doing a job on Brahim Diaz. Seems like this is the first time someone has matched Diaz." Oliseh said during his commentary duties on SuperSport, as monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com.
Despite Onyeamachi's standout performance, Nigeria fell short of reaching the final, losing 4-2 on penalties after the game ended goalless in regulation time.
The 26-year-old missed his spot kick during the shootout, allowing Morocco to take the advantage, which Youssef En-Nesyri sealed by converting the decisive penalty to send the hosts into the final.
The Super Eagles will now turn their attention to the third-place playoff, where they are set to face Egypt in the bronze medal match on Saturday.
