Former Super Eagles invitee hailed by Udinese fans and coach after back-to-back Serie A goals

Former Super Eagles invitee Kingsley Ehizibue was once again in the spotlight on Saturday after scoring in Udinese's 2-0 Serie A victory over Torino at the Bluenergy Stadium.

The energetic fullback showcased an impressive performance that earned him praise from both supporters and head coach Kosta Runjaic.

Ehizibue reacted quickest at the far post to turn in a well-delivered cross from teammate Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, giving Udinese a crucial breakthrough just before the break.

The goal was met with applause from the supporters, who turned out in large numbers to back their team and to honour the victims of the earthquake that struck Friuli 50 years ago.

Speaking after the match, Runjaic lauded the defender's progress and the overall development of his squad as the season nears its conclusion.

"We are at the end of the season and we are seeing the development of players like Ehizibue, Kamara, Ekkelenkamp, and many others. We are satisfied with this," Udinese coach Kosta Runjaic said, according to the club's official website.

He also acknowledged the appreciation shown by fans, who celebrated the defender's goal and growing influence in the team.

"Ehizibue was rightly celebrated today by the fans, who recognized his performances and his work to improve. It was a wonderful moment," he added.

Ehizibue's latest goal continues an encouraging run of form in front of goal for the fullback, who also scored in Udinese's thrilling 3-3 draw against Lazio.

The 30-year-old, who received a Super Eagles call-up in March 2020 but didn't make an appearance for Nigeria, will be pleased with his recent performances and will be aiming to maintain his form as Udinese continue their push for a European qualification spot.
