Southampton manager Tonda Eckert has provided an update on the futures of Joe Aribo and Samuel Edozie ahead of the transfer window deadline, revealing that the club is involved in positive discussions regarding their possible departures.
The London-born duo have endured a difficult season with the Championship side, finding it hard to secure regular playing time.
Aribo has made just seven league appearances for the Saints, while Edozie is yet to feature this campaign, despite impressing during a loan spell with Anderlecht last season.
Speaking on the situation, Eckert confirmed that talks are ongoing as Southampton look to find solutions that suit all parties involved.
"There's conversations going on at the moment. It needs to make sense for the player first, but obviously also for the club," Eckert told Daily Echo.
Despite receiving offers for both players, the Southampton boss revealed that completing the deals remains complex due to the various factors involved.
"There are some good conversations taking place at the moment. Those situations are always a little bit more complicated to say it's just one party," he said.
He also acknowledged the complexity of modern transfer dealings, noting that multiple stakeholders must align for any move to be completed.
"I think there are so many parties nowadays that need to agree for a deal to happen. It didn't work out the way maybe some parties wanted it to," he added.
The German manager also revealed that, despite the complications, the club is holding positive discussions regarding their potential exits.
"I think the conversations are now heading in a good direction," Eckert concluded.
With the transfer window nearing its close, both Aribo and Edozie will be eager to secure moves away from the St. Mary's Stadium having failed to do so during the summer.
