Teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha etched his name into Liverpool’s history books with a standout performance in their 2-0 victory over Fulham at Anfield on Saturday.
The 17-year-old forward opened the scoring in style, curling a sublime effort into the bottom corner to hand Liverpool FC an early advantage.
Meanwhile, Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah later sealed the win with a powerful left-footed strike into the far corner.
Ngumoha’s goal not only set the tone for the victory but also marked a historic milestone, as he became Liverpool’s youngest-ever goalscorer at Anfield at 17 years and 225 days.
In doing so, he surpassed the previous record held by Raheem Sterling, who scored at the venue aged 17 years and 317 days against Reading in October, 2012.
The strike also took Ngumoha’s tally to two league goals in 14 Premier League appearances, underlining his growing influence in the squad.
The Nigerian-eligible forward, who joined from Chelsea FC, is enjoying a breakthrough campaign, impressing with his pace, technical ability, and composure in front of goal.
Having earlier opened his Premier League account with a decisive goal in a 3-2 win over Newcastle United FC at St. James’ Park, Ngumoha has emerged as one of the few bright spots in what has been a largely inconsistent season for Liverpool.
Born in London, England, Ngumoha has represented England at multiple youth levels, including U15, U16, U17, and U19.
However, he remains eligible to play for Nigeria at senior level, a prospect that will continue to attract attention as his stock rises.
With his confidence growing and opportunities increasing, the young forward appears poised to continue his upward trajectory and further cement his place as one of Liverpool’s most exciting prospects.
