Through their respective official websites, four European clubs Chelsea, Leicester City, Porto and Bordeaux have reacted to Nigeria's 3-0 win vs Seychelles in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier as players on the books of the clubs were on international duty for the Super Eagles.
Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo, Leicester City pair Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi, Porto's Chidozie Awaziem and Bordeaux number ten Samuel Kalu were named in the starting lineup and had a hand in two of the goals scored against The Pirates.
Chelsea wrote: ''Elsewhere on Saturday, in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, Kenneth Omeruo played for Nigeria as they eased past Seychelles 3-0. Ahmed Musa, Chidozie Awaziem and Odion Ighalo scored for the Super Eagles, who can no longer call on Victor Moses after his retirement. ''Gernot Rohr’s men, who suffered an opening 2-0 defeat by South Africa last summer, went ahead inside 15 minutes through former Fox Ahmed Musa.''
Porto cheered Awaziem who netted his maiden international goal : ''Chidozie scored his first goal for Nigeria's main national team on Saturday, thus contributing to the 3-0 victory against Seychelles in Group E of the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifying.
''At the Linite Stadium in Mahe, Seychelles, Chidozie started in the Nigerian defense and scored a free-kick which hit the post (34m), making it 2-0. Nigeria's other goals were scored by Ahmed Musa (15m) and Odion Ighalo (57m).''
Bordeaux noted that Samuel Kalu won the penalty converted by Ighalo in the second half : ''This Saturday, Samuel Kalu celebrated his first game with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
