Premier League giants Chelsea are through to the quarterfinals of the Emirates FA Cup after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Championship outfit Barnsley on Thursday night.
Three Nigeria-eligible players were on show at Oakwell in South Yorkshire; former Chelsea trialist Victor Adeboyejo was replaced by one-cap United States international Daryl Dike in the 59th minute while Faustino Anjorin tasted action for the first time under new Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel when he came off the bench in the 69th minute.
Barnsley put up a massive effort but bowed out at the fifth round stage as Tuchel continued his fine start with Chelsea with four wins and a draw from his first five games.
The Reds played really well and for long periods were the better side but one goal decided the game and it came in the second half.
There was initial thought that Tammy Abraham was offside when he tapped home from a Reece James assist in the 64th minute but the goal stood.
Anjorin did not see the ball much during his time on the pitch, making 13 touches in total, but made some encouraging runs when he had the opportunity.
Shortly after the game., he took to Instagram to celebrate Chelsea making it to the next round of the FA Cup, where they face Sheffield United.
Anjorin said : "Happy to be through to the FA Cup Quarters🔥💙".
The Poole-born winger won the junior version of the FA Cup, the FA Youth Cup in 2018, and scored in the final against Arsenal.
