Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle has expressed disappointment over the absence of captain Wilfred Ndidi for the match against Morocco on Wednesday.
The Besiktas midfielder is suspended for the semifinal after receiving a yellow card in the 2-0 victory over Algeria in the quarterfinal.
His absence has raised significant doubts about Nigeria's chances of winning against the host nation and reaching the tournament final.
Despite these concerns, the Malian coach remains confident in the team's squad depth and their ability to find a suitable replacement for Ndidi.
"I am disappointed for him because he brings so much to the team," Chelle stated during his press conference on Tuesday.
"But we are a group, I have some players, some very good players, who are waiting for a chance to show what they can contribute."
The Malian coach also reassured Nigerians that the team has the potential to beat Morocco.
"So I am very confident about that and I have to make a choice among some players. Everything will be fine," he added.
Ndidi has been a standout for Nigeria in the tournament, scoring his first goal for Nigeria in the win against Tunisia.
His absence will be a major blow to Nigeria. However, Chelle will be hoping the team can adapt to his absence and secure a victory to keep their hopes alive of winning a fourth AFCON title.
