Though the decision is out of Ighalo's hands, Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa wants his ex-international teammate to remain at Manchester United beyond his loan deal which runs out this coming Sunday.
Musa pointed out that the Shanghai Shenhua loanee has proved his doubters wrong after scoring four goals in three starts since his arrival at Old Trafford, with one of the goals - his sparking effort against LASK - winning the club's Goal of the Month award for March 2020.
"When he had the Manchester United deal, a lot of people said he couldn't do it but he proved them wrong," Musa told TV3 Ghana in an Instagram conversation.
"I am really happy for him for putting in such great performance for the club.
"Ighalo scores fantastic goals that you can never believe, I know he can even do more better than what he is doing now."
Ighalo is a boyhood Manchester United fan and Musa is delighted that his former strike partner is living his dream of representing the Red Devils.
"I would love for him to stay in England after his loan, to achieve more of his dream.
"Like he said this is a dream come through, and I know he is going to do bigger things," he concluded.
Musa has English Premier League experience under his belt, having worn the colours of Leicester City prior to his move to Al-Nassr after the 2018 World Cup.
