Former Chelsea and Juventus striker Eniola Aluko says she has no regrets choosing to play for England national team over her country of birth, Nigeria.
Born in Lagos, Aluko amassed 102 caps for the Three Lionesses before calling time on her international career in 2016.
The Aston Villa Women's sporting director has stressed that she's proud of her Nigerian heritage and noted that her younger brother, Sone Aluko, committed his international future to the Super Eagles though he was born in London.
"I was born in Lagos. I am Nigerian descent so British-Nigerian. I am very proud of my Nigerian background, both my parents are Nigerians," Eniola Aluko said on Instagram Live.
"My mom is very hardworking when I was growing up, she worked very hard with me and my brother at the time. We have got a lot of Nigerian values instilled."
She added : "I loved it, getting one cap for England was a privilege but to get 102 in eleven years is not something I expected at all, especially for me as a Nigerian.
"My brother played for Nigeria so choosing to play for England was something that made me proud and doing it for such a long time, scoring lots of goals, traveling the world, playing with people who are still my friends to this day, meant a lot to me."
The 33-year-old Eniola Aluko was a member of Great Britain's squad to the 2012 Olympic Games held in London.
