Manager Eric Chelle has confirmed that he will scout Europe for players of Nigerian descent and keep a close eye on standout performers in the Nigeria Premier Football League ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup.
The 2026 Unity Cup is scheduled to take place in May at The Valley, the home ground of Charlton Athletic.
Following a demanding season, Chelle is expected to rest several key Super Eagles players for the tournament in London, creating room for new faces to be included as he evaluates fresh options.
Nigeria will face Zimbabwe in their opening fixture on Tuesday, May 26, and could meet either Jamaica or India in the final should they progress.
In addition to scouting players abroad, Chelle revealed that players who have previously received call-ups but are yet to make an appearance or have seen limited game time will also be reconsidered for the Unity Cup.
"The Unity Cup provides a platform to assess new players. I will comb Europe and invite new players of Nigerian descent, alongside those who were previously called up but never got the chance to feature," Eric Chelle said in a press release made available to allnigeriasoccer.com.
"Top players from the Nigeria Premier Football League will also be considered as I will be watching a number of domestic league games from now until the end of the season."
