Odion Ighalo has revealed that the Manchester derby between United and City on March 8, 2020 has been the highlight of his year-long spell at the Red Devils.
Manchester United signed Ighalo on transfer deadline day in January 2020 but at least four other targets including academy product Joshua King were on their radar before they settled for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer.
In a tactical substitution by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ighalo replaced another new arrival in Bruno Fernandes two minutes from time for his first ever appearance in a Manchester derby.
"That was electrifying! That was crazy! I’ve never seen an atmosphere like that before, the atmosphere that day was crazy in Old Trafford, " Ighalo told UTD Podcast.
"When I sat down on the bench, I was watching the crowd and I was like ‘wow, this is different level’.
"Being on that pitch when we scored the second goal, I was going mental. I was jumping like I was the one who scored the goal! I did not score in the game but I was happy because the atmosphere was crazy.
"That was one of the biggest games: it’s a derby game and the fans were pleased, they were happy. That was one of the best moments in Old Trafford, for me."
Ighalo, who has one month left on his loan deal, has played 23 games in all competitions for Manchester United, scoring five goals.
