'I'm ready to play' - Arsenal midfielder Nwaneri labels Marseille 'one of Europe's biggest clubs'

England U21 international of Nigerian descent Ethan Nwaneri has described Marseille as one of the biggest clubs in Europe ahead of his imminent switch to the former European champions.

Arsenal and Marseille have reached a club-to-club agreement that will see the highly rated attacking midfielder join the Ligue 1 side on loan for the remainder of the season, with no option to buy included in the deal.

Nwaneri has already arrived in Marseille ahead of his official unveiling, marking the first time in a decade that he will leave his boyhood club, albeit on a temporary basis.

In quotes relayed by Sky Sports, Nwaneri said: "It's one of the biggest clubs in Europe, and I'm ready to help the team.

"He [De Zerbi] is one of the best coaches in the world, he's demanding. And I'm ready to play under him and listen to what he wants from the team."

Arsenal are of the view that sending Nwaneri out on loan would play a key role in the teenager’s continued development.

Mikel Arteta has held direct discussions with Roberto De Zerbi, with Marseille identified as a favourable destination.

The French club’s sporting vision and tactical approach are thought to align well with Nwaneri’s attributes, helping to fast-track talks between the two clubs.

Nwaneri has made 12 appearances for the Gunners across all competitions this season, including four starts.
