Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed the conversations he held with his international teammates Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika amid speculations linking the duo with a move to Turkish giants Galatasaray.
Galatasaray are reportedly keen on strengthening their squad ahead of the second half of the season as they push for domestic success and a deeper run in European competition, with both Nigerian internationals identified as potential targets.
Speaking after Galatasaray’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, Osimhen disclosed that he discussed the possibility of a move with the players during international engagements.
"I spoke with Onyedika during the Africa Cup of Nations. I also spoke with Lookman during the matches we played for the World Cup,” he was quoted as saying by Futboo.
“I told them about the Galatasaray fans, how big a club we are, and the beauty of the country. They are adults. They will make their own decisions."
The former Napoli striker admitted he is keen on seeing both players join him in Istanbul, stressing that their arrival would be a major boost for the club.
“Their arrival would be good for our club, our players, and our fans. Onyedika is a very good player. He plays very fluently. If he comes here, he will contribute a lot to us.
“He is a very talented player. I am trying to convince both of them. I would like them to come to one of the biggest clubs in the world and play with us,” he added.
Onyedika has been a key figure for Club Brugge and is believed to be seeking a move to a bigger European league to further develop his game, while Lookman is reportedly open to leaving Atalanta after two turbulent summer transfer windows in which he failed to secure a move away from the Bergamo-based club.
