England and Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer was very critical of Alex Iwobi's mistake in Everton's 1-1 draw with Tottenham in their Premier League clash at the Goodison Park on Sunday.
In truth, the Nigerian was culpable for the goal his side conceded in the 63rd minute when his poor back pass was pounced on by Son Heung-Min who advanced to set up Dele Alli for the opener.
Iwobi had quite a below average game, in all standards, and got the second least ratings(6.3) amongst his teammates who started the game, as per the rates awarded by Whoscored.com.
"It was a silly mistake from Iwobi," BBC Match of the Day pundit Shearer said in their post-match analysis, alongside Ian Wright.
"He should have taken the option of a simple pass to Gomes, but he picked a wrong one, straight into the feet of Son. And then that brilliant finish from Alli.
While Cenk Tosun provided an equaliser for the Toffees deep into stoppage time, the game in Merseyside was marred by ugly scenes following a horrific injury suffered by Andre Gomes.
