Alex Iwobi has emerged as an injury concern ahead of Nigeria's high-profile friendlies against Poland and Portugal in June after he was forced off shortly before half-time during Fulham's London derby against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
With the exception of his international duty at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Iwobi has enjoyed an ever-present role for Fulham this season, starting twenty-seven Premier League games.
Iwobi's afternoon came to an unfortunate end during the derby after picking up a suspected hamstring injury.
The Hale End Academy product went straight down the tunnel and was replaced by international teammate Samuel Chukwueze after going down unchallenged while chasing a ball.
Iwobi was seen clutching his hamstring, raising immediate concern over the severity of the setback.
Newcastle United legend Shay Given expressed fears that the injury could rule Iwobi out for the remainder of the campaign.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, as monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com, Given said: "You know it's something serious when the referee calls on the medical team.
"It is so frustrating. You know you do everything by the book and that's just part and parcel of football.
"Injuries come along but at this time of the season, you may not see Alex again this season."
With former Bees boss Thomas Frank watching on, the match was still goalless as it reached the 82nd minute.
