Newcastle United forward William Osula has set his sights on making his senior debut for his country of birth Denmark during the March international window.
On March 26, at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark will face North Macedonia in a World Cup qualifying playoff semifinal, with a place at the 2026 tournament at stake.
Born in Copenhagen, Osula is eligible to represent the Super Eagles through his father.
However, he is on the brink of being cap-tied to Denmark, having already featured for the Scandinavian giants at U21 level.
The 22-year-old would become ineligible to play for Nigeria if he makes even a brief appearance on Thursday as it would formally commit his international future to Denmark.
Last September, the former Sheffield United starlet was an unused substitute in back-to-back World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Greece, and was also selected for the November fixtures but was forced to withdraw from the squad due to injury.
Speaking to TV 2 Sport, Osula stressed that he is ready to make his senior debut for Denmark.
"It's great to be part of this big week we have now. It's a huge honor to be here, and it's something we're looking forward to," Osula stated.
"Last time I was injured, so that was a shame, but it's great that I'm healthy now and completely ready again."
Osula received plaudits this month after scoring a late winner as a substitute in Newcastle United's 2–1 victory against Manchester United.
