Left-footed Nigerian forward making inroads at Levante after leaving Barcelona

Barcelona-born Nigerian forward Kareem Tunde is steadily progressing at La Liga club Levante, six years after leaving Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Uncapped at international level, Tunde was born to a Spanish mother and a Nigerian father twenty years ago.

Despite his Spanish upbringing, he identifies strongly with his Nigerian heritage and displays the Nigerian flag on his Instagram profile.

A relatively unknown player who was playing for Levante's reserve team at start of the 2025-2026 season, the left-footed attacker broke into the first team following the appointment of Luís Castro as coach in December 2025.

Tunde made his La Liga debut against Real Sociedad and has featured in ten league matches under new boss Castro, including nine starts.

The only game he missed was Levante’s home win against Elche on January 23, which he sat out due to fitness issues.

The Spanish-Nigerian winger began his football journey at Sant Andreu before joining Espanyol in 2014.

Three years later, Barcelona secured his signature following his standout performances for Espanyol U12s.

A left-footed attacker, Tunde combines pace with the ability to take on defenders, making him a constant threat on the flank.

Levante confirmed on Friday that he has returned to partial team training after he was substituted eighteen minutes into last weekend’s 1–1 draw with Girona.
