Leicester City have provided an injury update on Wilfred Ndidi that will certainly worry Super Eagles fans and manager Gernot Rohr, with the Franco-German set to finalize his roster for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the Nigeria international will sit out Saturday evening's match against Manchester City due to a knee issue and was cautious not to reveal the holding midfielder's expected return date this time.
It is the same problem that kept him out of the squads against Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Speaking at Thursday's press conference, Rodgers said : "Wilf won’t be available for the weekend. He’s still in a process to try and get fit so we’ll see how he is next week. I’m not sure.
"He's doing work inside, but you then have to progress that to outside and then when he can join the team. It's another intensity to join the team and then to play."
Rodgers is facing a central midfield shortage ahead of the visit of Manchester City as he'll definitely be without the injured trio Ndidi, Mendy and Choudhury, who is suspended.
"They're three excellent players and obviously we have to find a strategy and a plan to come up with a game that can see us try and get three points.
"Wilf has obviously played more, but all three give you that defensive solidity which is important for any team. They're not available so we can't worry about that," Rodgers concluded.
Ndidi has not featured in five league games as a result of injury this term, the highest number of matches he has missed through injury in a single-season since turning professional.
