Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman marked his debut for Atlético Madrid in impressive fashion, scoring a goal and providing an assist in their 5-0 Copa del Rey quarterfinal win over Real Betis on Thursday.

The former Atalanta player, who recently completed his move to Atlético Madrid, was included in the starting lineup and made an immediate impact.

Atlético Madrid opened the scoring in the 12th minute through David Hancko, who met a Koke corner with a well-placed header into the left side of the net, giving the visitors an early advantage.

Seven minutes later, Giuliano Simeone doubled the lead, finishing low and accurately inside the penalty area after collecting a precise pass.

Lookman continued the scoring spree in the 37th minute, breaking through Betis’ defence before slotting the ball into the bottom right corner following a brilliant pass, putting Atlético firmly in control.

The Super Eagles forward then showcased his playmaking ability in the second half, providing a perfectly timed through ball to Antoine Griezmann, who finished from the edge of the box into the top right corner to make it 4-0 in the 62nd minute.

Atlético Madrid completed the scoring in the 83rd minute when Thiago Almada capitalized on a rebound in the box, firing home into the bottom right corner to seal a comprehensive 5-0 victory.

The victory propels Atlético Madrid into the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey and marks an impressive start for Lookman in his new club.
