Speaking at Friday's press conference ahead of tomorrow's Championship clash vs Bournemouth, Middlesbrough assistant coach Kevin Blackwell confirmed that they are considering signing PAOK striker Chuba Akpom.
Akpom was on the books of Arsenal for sixteen years before joining PAOK on a permanent deal in August 2018.
The Super Eagles hopeful, a key player for PAOK, has been omitted from the club's Champions League roster, suggesting that his time in Thessaloniki is up.
Asked by Hartlepool Mail about Akpom, Blackwell replied : "There’s no doubt that we are looking at players and Chuba is definitely one of the players who we were looking at.
"The club has set their targets quite high, we are looking for quality players.
"It’s no good getting players who are exactly the same as what you’ve got, they have got to be better than what you’ve got or you might as well stick with what you’ve got....."
Arsenal are in line to receive a transfer windfall should Akpom depart PAOK before the end of his contract as they inserted a sell-on clause into the deal taking him to the Greek club.
