Morocco coach Walid Regragui is reportedly relying on Torino centre-back Adam Masina's Italian Serie A experience to prevent Nigeria's marquee forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman from wreaking havoc on Wednesday night when both countries lock horns in the semifinal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Moroccan newspaper Almountakhab, Masina was prepared in daily training for a special mission: to share marking responsibilities on Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, with the aim of limiting the effectiveness of Nigeria’s feared duo.
The Torino star was assigned the task because of his knowledge of the Nigerian forwards, who have 212 appearances between them in the Italian top flight.
In their only Serie A meeting, Lookman was kept quiet by Masina, failing to score despite Atalanta's emphatic 3–0 victory over Torino on the final matchday of the 2023–24 season.
Earlier in the same campaign, Osimhen was also denied a goal as Napoli were held to a 1–1 draw by Torino in March 2024.
Osimhen and Lookman have been involved in thirteen of the fourteen goals scored by Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with the Atalanta star directly participating in seven goals, one more than the Galatasaray forward.
Marseille defender Nayef Aguerd will also play a key role in the defensive plan, alternating with Adam Masina to provide close support and coordination as Morocco look to contain Osimhen and Lookman.
