The Nigeria Football Federation has officially dismissed reports linking Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle to three-time African champions Wydad Casablanca, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The clarification from the NFF media team comes in response to claims suggesting Chelle was close to finalizing a deal to replace WAC manager Amine Benhachem, despite the club’s recent league victory over UTS.
According to the NFF, Chelle remains fully committed to the Super Eagles, and any discussions regarding his future with Wydad Casablanca are unfounded.
Earlier reports from Moroccan broadcaster Le7TV had suggested that Chelle was excited about the prospect of managing a top club, which fueled speculation about his future and loyalty to the Nigerian national team.
Despite the reports, the NFF confirmed that Chelle will remain in charge of the Super Eagles for their forthcoming international engagements.
The Nigerian team is scheduled to face Jordan in an international friendly later this month, with Chelle expected to lead the squad.
The federation’s statement aims to clarify the situation and assure fans and stakeholders that Chelle’s focus remains on the Super Eagles, dismissing any rumours linking him to a managerial role outside Nigeria.
