Nigeria Ahead Of England In Race To Secure International Future Of MK Dons Whizkid, Dubbed The New Adepoju

The Nigeria Football Federation are in pole position to secure the international future of highly-rated Milton Keynes Dons attacking midfielder David Kasumu ahead of the English FA.

The 16-year-old Kasumu made his competitive debut for the Dons in their thrilling 3-2 victory over Newport County in the first round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night, lasting 61 minutes on the pitch.

“David Kasumu is an amazing talent, he played with us throughout last year’s African Nations Cup in the UK, and was very instrumental , ” Team Nigeria UK boss David Doherty told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“I was not surprised by his development at all. He is one of the lads we watch closely, we have a good relationship with him, dad and mother.

“Definitely he will play for Nigeria but England is an option too. ”

Kasumu’s creative and technical attributes have drawn comparisons to retired Nigeria international Mutiu Adepoju.

“David is more attacking minded midfielder, player like Mutiu Adepoju. He does the dirty work and can attack well when needed, ” added David Doherty.

In June 2015, David Kasumu was called up for a Nigeria Under-15s training camp.

He was a non-playing substitute in two games in the Championship last term, against Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest.

Ifeanyi Emmanuel
