Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has provided an update on the proposed move of his captain Ahmed Musa to English Premier League side West Brom, saying he expects the transfer to go through in the next few days.
Baggies boss Sam Allardyce has given the green light to the transfer of the free agent after he proved his fitness to West Brom's sports science and performance team at the training center in Walsall last Thursday.
West Brom having limited funds in their transfer kitty is proving to be a stumbling block to a deal so the owners of the club have to put up the cash or Kamil Grosicki's imminent
transfer to Legia Warsaw will provide the required cash injection to
fund the transfer.
Asked for his take on Musa's proposed move to West Brom, Rohr told Super Eagles TV : "We are in touch with our captain, he is in the United Kingdom now.
"It's not so easy to change during the season but he is free to sign where he wants and there's no obligation to respect the transfer window for him because he was free already.
"I am very hopeful that he can sign in the next days, he wanted to come back to Europe and to play in England so it's not easy during the season but I'm hopeful that he can sign in the club, it's very important that everybody is playing in their clubs.
"It's a long time that he didn't play, I think since October, so he needs now to come back in the rhythm of the matches."
If all goes well, Musa is expected to sign a short-term deal with the possibility of extension at the end of the 2020-2021 season.
