Nigeria have been handed a boost ahead of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches with Benin and Lesotho, with their leading scorer in the qualifiers, Victor Osimhen given the medical all-clear to return to action.
Nigeria's most expensive player in history has been selected by manager Gennaro Gattuso for his side's Serie A meeting with Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi on Sunday afternoon.
This is his first squad involvement in all competitions for the Blues since he played 83 minutes of their 1-0 win against Bologna on November 8, a game in which he bagged the game-winning goal.
Osimhen is one of seven players listed as strikers in the Napoli matchday 23, the others being Lozano, Mertens, Petagna, Politano, Insigne and Llorente.
He has not kicked a ball in a competitive match since he suffered a shoulder injury in the second half of Nigeria's 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone on November 13, 2020.
Osimhen contracted the coronavirus disease while holidaying in Lagos late last month just as he was nearing a return to fitness, but returned a negative test for COVID-19 last week, paving the way for him to return to training and make the squad for this afternoon's trip to Veneto.
