'Nigeria has no obvious weaknesses' - Two-time Afcon winner hails Super Eagles after win v Algeria

Two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner Mohamed Aboutrika heaped praise on the Super Eagles following their emphatic 2-0 victory over Algeria on Saturday, a result that secured Nigeria’s place in the Afcon semifinals.

After a goalless first half, Nigeria broke the deadlock in the second period with strikes from star centre-forward Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams sealing a convincing win.

Aboutrika lauded the Super Eagles following their win over the Desert Warriors, emphasising that they were stronger and more technically adept than the Algerians.

"The strongest team is the one that won, and Nigeria has no obvious weaknesses," Aboutrika said on Qatari channel beIN Sports.

"Physically, they were very present, and technically as well. They have playmakers and strikers, and they excel in physical and aerial duels."

Aboutrika singled out four Super Eagles players for their contributions, including Victor Osimhen Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi and Akor Adams.

"Osimhen in attack, Iwobi and Ndidi in midfield, Akor on the right flank, plus a solid defensive line, they played almost flawlessly.

"It's a deserved victory, as Nigeria was the better and stronger side in the match."

In their 16th Africa Cup of Nations semifinal, Nigeria will clash with host nation Morocco on Wednesday, January 14.
