Super Eagles striker Akor Adams ended his five-match La Liga goal drought after scoring in Sevilla’s 1–1 draw against Rayo Vallecano at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.
The Nigerian striker gave the hosts an early lead in the 13th minute, finishing clinically after connecting with a pinpoint cross from César Azpilicueta.
Adams’ goal was his first in the league since January, when he scored in Sevilla’s 2–1 victory over Athletic Bilbao.
Before the Vallecano clash, the Nigerian International had endured a difficult spell in front of goal, failing to score in matches against RCD Mallorca, Girona FC, Deportivo Alavés, Getafe CF and Real Betis.
However, the striker has now taken his tally for the season to seven goals and three assists in 22 league appearances.
Despite Sevilla’s bright start, the visitors fought their way back into the game after the break.
Alfonso Espino equalised for Rayo Vallecano in the second half, silencing the home supporters and ensuring both sides shared the spoils.
Adams’ evening ended in the 68th minute when he was replaced by Isaac Romero as Sevilla pushed for a winning goal.
However, neither side was able to find a decisive breakthrough before the final whistle.
With his scoring drought now over, Adams will be hoping the strike sparks a run of form as he looks to play a key role in Sevilla’s push for improved results in the closing stages of the season.
