Nigerian winger whose father represented Norway in athletics swaps Hammarby for Brommapojkarna

With a statement on the official website, Swedish Allsvenskan side IF Brommapojkarna have announced the signing of Norwegian-Nigerian forward Obilor Okeke.

Sport runs in his blood as the 23-year-old is the son of Nigerian-born former Norwegian sprinter Aham Okeke, a six-time national champion in the 100 metres who also set the national record on five occasions, achieving a personal best of 10.26 seconds.

Okeke has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Brommapojkarna until the end of 2029, bringing his spell at Hammarby to a close.

The winger found opportunities limited at Hammarby due to intense competition for places in wide areas, and he is expected to enjoy more regular playing time at his new club.

He joined Hammarby from KFUM Oslo in mid-August last year, making his debut later that month in an Allsvenskan away fixture against IK Sirius.

In total, the dual-national forward made nine Allsvenskan appearances for Hammarby, registering one assist, and also featured twice in the Svenska Cupen, starting both matches.

Born in Oslo, Okeke developed through the youth ranks at Bærumsløkka, Oppsal, Stabæk and Vålerenga before going on to represent Skeid, Asker, Fredrikstad and KFUM at senior level.

He is looked after by Norwegian-Nigerian agent Atta Aneke, who also manages Super Eagles stars Igoh Ogbu, Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke.
