'No preference' - Galatasaray striker Osimhen insists he's ready for Juventus or Atletico Madrid

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has played down talk of preferred opponents after the Turkish champions booked their place in the UEFA Champions League knockout phase, insisting the team is ready to face either Juventus or Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16.

Osimhen featured for the entire duration as Galatasaray suffered a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, a result that still proved enough to see them finish 20th in the league standings with 10 points and advance to the next round.

Speaking to reporters after the match, the Nigerian international expressed confidence in his physical condition and reiterated his readiness to compete against Europe's elite, regardless of the opponent drawn.

"I am getting better physically. We don't have a preference between Juventus or Atletico Madrid. We will be playing at this level consistently. We will improve," Osimhen was quoted as saying by T24.

He also highlighted Galatasaray's ambition in the transfer market, praising the club's efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the knockout stages.

"The club is working on transfers. We have signed two very good players (Noa Lang and Yaser Asprilla). Both Juventus and Atletico Madrid are very strong teams. Whoever we face, we will do our best."

The Nigerian international began his Champions League campaign in scintillating fashion, netting six goals in his opening three appearances.

However, his momentum has dipped in recent outings, with the striker failing to find the back of the net against Monaco, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.

Osimhen will now be eager to rediscover his scoring touch as Galatasaray look to secure a positive result and advance in the competition.
