'Nobody is scared' - Moses Simon insists Super Eagles kept their cool in second half of win v Tanzania

Nigeria kicked off their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tanzania on Tuesday in Morocco, and Super Eagles forward Simon Moses shared his thoughts on the team’s performance and the road ahead.

Addressing expectations about the team’s scoring, Moses said, “Actually, football is not that easy. Not every team in this Afcon is easy. So they should just keep supporting us.”

The Paris FC star highlighted that the priority was securing the three points, regardless of the margin.

“Of course great. When you win you say great, when you lose, you think about it. So the most important thing is the three points,” he added, reflecting on Nigeria’s performance against Tanzania.

Moses acknowledged that Tanzania put up resistance, particularly in the second half, but emphasized the team’s preparedness under pressure.

“Actually, we are used to it. This is our job and we know how to do it best. I believe nobody is scared because we believe we can score more goals,” he said, addressing the moments when Tanzania had the upper hand during the match.

Looking ahead to Nigeria’s next game, Moses stressed the team’s ambition and determination.

“Of course, we know it's not easy. It's three point. Of course, we don't tell you draw or lose. Everybody want to win and we want to be there,” he said.

Moses also addressed the fans following the Super Eagles’ journey. “Of course, the word that we say to the fans, they should keep supporting us, keep going for us. We will make them proud.”

The three-time Africa Cup of Nations champions now turn their attention to Tunisia as they aim to build on their opening victory.

Nigeria will face the Carthage Eagles in their second group-stage encounter on Saturday, December 27, seeking another win to strengthen their position in the competition.
