Arsenal U18 were beaten 4-1 by Tottenham Hotspur in a lively North London Derby on Tuesday, with Nigerian descent players Emerson Nwaneri and Miracle Adewole both finding the net for their respective sides.
The visitors took control early in the contest. Reiss Elliot-Parris opened the scoring in the seventh minute after Arsenal lost possession in midfield, calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.
Tottenham doubled their lead in the 20th minute when George Feeney was played through and rounded the keeper to finish into an empty net.
Arsenal nearly responded before half-time, but Ceadach O’Neill’s effort rattled the crossbar.
Tottenham came out strongly after the interval, with Feeney adding his second of the match in the 48th minute, firing home from outside the box to put Spurs firmly in command.
Arsenal fought back late in the game through Emerson Nwaneri, the younger brother of Ethan Nwaneri, who intercepted a loose pass and finished confidently in the 84th minute, giving the home side a glimmer of hope.
However, Tottenham sealed the win in the closing stages when Miracle Adewole converted to make it 4-1, completing the scoring and securing a comfortable victory for the visitors.
