Nwankwo Kanu Spends Time With Super Eagles Ahead World Cup Opener
The Super Eagles received an important guest before leaving for Arena da Baixada, where they take on Iran in their opening World Cup fixture this evening. <br /><br />Former Arsenal and Ajax Amsterdam attacker Nwankwo Kanu , who participated at three World Cups, visited the team to wish them good luck, offer moral support and encouragement to the squad.<br /><br />It is worthy of note that the football ambassador was credited with 87 international caps before his retirement, with 21 of them coming in World Cup qualifiers and a further 6 at the mundial.<br /><br />The 37 - year - old was involved in Nigeria’s opening fixture against Argentina 12 years ago which the Super Eagles lost by the odd goal.<br /><br />One of the highlights of his career was winning the Champions League with Ajax Amsterdam, a year before he dazzled the world at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.<br /><br />Photo Credit : fifa.com<br />
