Official: Nigerian attacker departs Arsenal for good after five years of service

With a statement on the official website, Premier League giants Arsenal have announced that Daniel Oyetunde has completed a permanent move to USL League One side Fort Wayne as he looks to gain valuable senior experience and continue his development.

The Nigerian forward, who joined the North London club in October 2021, progressed through the ranks at the Hale End academy and was regarded as one of its promising talents.

Oyetunde made his debut for the U21 team at just 16, coming off the bench against Burnley in the Premier League Cup.

Speaking to Fort Wayne’s official website, Daniel explained that he chose the club because he believed it was the right next step in his career, as it offered men’s football in a competitive league.

“I’d been at Arsenal for the past five years and played throughout the age groups there from U15 to U21,” Oyetunde.said.

“I’ve chosen Fort Wayne because I believe it’s the right next step for my career as it’s men’s football in a good league. This new project is exciting and I can’t wait to get started."

The 19-year-old  featured in 31 matches for the Arsenal academy across the U18 and U21 levels.

Oyetunde joined Isthmian League Premier Division outfit St Albans City on a youth loan in November 2025, featuring in their FA Cup first-round tie against Burton Albion.
