Official : Portland Timbers Acquire Rights To Igboananike, Adi & Arokoyo Protected

Major League Soccer club Portland Timbers have announced that they have acquired the rights to Kennedy Igboananike from DC United in exchange for the 21st<span class=\"s1\">&nbsp;pick in the second round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.</span><br /><span class=\"s1\"><br />Portland Timbers also revealed that they have declined the </span><span class=\"s1\">Nigerian striker&rsquo;s option for </span><span class=\"s1\">the 2017 MLS season.<br /><br />Fanendo Adi and Super Eagles defender Gbenga Arokoyo are among the 11 players protected by the club, meaning the two players can</span><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"s1\">&rsquo;t be&nbsp; </span></span><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"s1\">selected by Atlanta or Minnesota in the Expansion Draft.<br /><br />Former USA U23 international Amobi Okugo, who is thrashing out a fresh deal, and new acquisition Igboananike are available for the expansion draft .<br /></span></span><br />Last season, Igboananike scored 5 goals in 25 MLS appearances, and provided one assist. <br /><br />Ifeanyi Emmanuel<br /><br />Photo Credit : mlssoccer.com<br /></span>
