Through official channels, National League South club Chippenham Town have announced the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Jared Thompson on a season-long loan.

The 18-year-old's transfer to The Bluebirds is subject to the satisfactory completion of the relevant paperwork.

Thompson becomes the 22nd player to be loaned out by the Premier League champions in the summer transfer window.

The highly-rated glovesman joined Chelsea in 2012 from Swindon Town, and rose through the ranks before making his debut for the U18s in 2014.

Jared Thompson, who is an England youth international, signed a professional contract with Chelsea in February 2016.
