Bolton Wanderers have announced the signing of Nigeria international Shola Ameobi , 34, on a short - term deal following a successful trial. <br /><br />This puts an end to all speculations surrounding his future, with reports earlier linking him with a possible transfer to Charlton Athletic and other undisclosed clubs in United Kingdom.<br /><br />Ameobi was a member of the Newcastle United squad that won the Championship in the 2009 - 2010 season, scoring 10 goals in 18 matches and previously spent time on loan at Stoke City in the second - tier back in 2007-2008 campaign.<br /><br />The experienced frontman has been handed the number 26 kit for the duration of his stay at Bolton Wanderers.<br /><br />The ex Crystal Palace man represented the Super Eagles at the 2014 World Cup, making two appearances off the bench. <br /><br />Photo Credit : bwfc.co.uk<br />
