Nottingham Forest fullback Ola Aina has expressed optimism about his team’s chances in Europe, insisting they will continue to work hard as they prepare for a crucial clash against Danish side FC Midtjylland.
Ola Aina, who has been an important figure for Nottingham Forest, played the majority of the first leg as Forest suffered a 1–0 defeat at the City Ground.
The Nigerian international has made 19 appearances across all competitions this season, registering one assist as the team continues its push to reach the quarter-finals.
Speaking during his press conference, Aina admitted that playing in European competitions has been an exciting experience, especially for players in the squad who are competing at that level for the first time.
"I find it really fun. You play different oppositions from European stuff, so it's been good," Aina said.
He added that the exposure to different styles of football across Europe has been beneficial for the squad, noting that several players are still adjusting to the demands of continental competitions.
"I think the group of lads and a few like myself, that is the first time we are playing in Europe. So it's been really good," he added.
Looking ahead to the encounter with Midtjylland, Aina emphasized that the team will maintain its focus and determination in order to keep progressing in the tournament.
"Hopefully, we can keep it going. We work hard every week," Aina stated. "It is another game that we will try to work hard and try to progress in the tournament."
Aina also praised the Danish side for their quality across the pitch, highlighting former Nigeria Football Federation target Philip Billing as one of their standout performers.
"Their team is very balanced. I feel like the whole team is really good. Obviously, there are standout players. Philip Billing, he has been in the Premier League before everyone knows him. He is a great player," he added.
Aina will be eager to deliver his best as Forest look to overturn a 1-0 deficit, aiming to make a decisive impact in the match.
