Many Super Eagles players have featured for Premier League clubs in time past but only former Everton and Middlesbrough striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni was able to set a goalscoring record yet to be equaled or broken by any Nigeria player.
The 36-year-old played 252 Premier League matches and he scored 95 goals, making him Nigeria's highest Premier League goalscorer in history.
However, Yakubu's goals record could soon be broken considering the rate at which young and quality goalscorers continue emerge in the country.
One player who is has a better chance of reaching the Yak's feat is no other player but Everton loanee Henry Onyekuru.
The 21-year-old is as good as Yakubu when it comes to converting goalscoring opportunities, hence, he can become the next Nigerian to paint Premier League with many goals.
Hopefully, the winger will sort out his work permit issue this summer, and will be given the chance by Marco Silva to begin his Premier League career with the Merseyside club next season.
