Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu continued his impressive run of form for Trabzonspor despite their narrow 3–2 defeat to Fenerbahce in a thrilling Turkish Super Lig clash on Saturday.
Onuachu was once again central to Trabzonspor’s attacking threat, scoring his 16th goal of the season.
The Nigerian striker found the net late in the first half, rising highest inside the box to power a close-range header beyond the Fenerbahce goalkeeper.
Thanks largely to Paul Onuachu’s aerial dominance, Trabzonspor have registered the highest number of headed goals in the 2025–2026 season (12), with the Nigerian striker contributing five of those efforts.
The former Southampton man showed his trademark aerial dominance and intelligent movement throughout the contest, troubling the Fenerbahce backline and providing a reliable focal point for Trabzonspor’s attacks.
Another Nigerian, Chibuike Nwaiwu, also enjoyed a notable outing for Trabzonspor.
The defender played a decisive role in the opening goal of the match, delivering a well-timed assist that allowed Ernest Muci to break the deadlock early on.
Despite strong performances from both Nigerians, Trabzonspor were unable to prevent Fenerbahce from claiming all three points.
The visitors struck the decisive blow early in the second half and managed the closing stages effectively to see out the win.
The goals in the contest came from Ernest Muci and Paul Onuachu for Trabzonspor, while Fenerbahce found the net through Anderson Talisca, Kerem Akturkoglu and Marco Asensio.
