Turkish football analyst Haluk Yürekli has praised Victor Osimhen’s decisive performance in Galatasaray’s thrilling 3–2 victory over Samsunspor, describing the Nigerian striker’s match-winning goal as potentially “a championship header.”
Speaking on the 343 Digital YouTube channel, Yürekli reflected on the dramatic encounter and highlighted Osimhen’s impact in what could become a defining moment in the Super Lig title race.
“Victor Osimhen is a huge investment,” the veteran journalist said, as quoted by HabersarıKırmızı.
“The goal he scored in the final minute of the match was truly extraordinary. Some goals are called ‘the harbinger of the championship.’ If Galatasaray wins the championship this year, Victor Osimhen’s last-minute goal will be absolutely crucial,” he added.
Galatasaray appeared to be cruising after first-half goals from Leroy Sané and Osimhen established a 2–0 lead at Rams Park on Friday evening.
Osimhen’s opener came in the 29th minute, when he combined with Sané before placing a composed low finish past Okan Kocuk, continuing his remarkable scoring run against Samsunspor.
The Nigerian has now netted five times in three league meetings with the Black Sea side.
However, the second half brought unexpected tension. Samsunspor fought back valiantly, with Anthony Musaba and Emre Kılınç striking to level the match at 2–2.
Galatasaray, momentarily rattled, found themselves under pressure as their opponents pushed for a surprise result.
Just when the game seemed destined for a draw, Osimhen produced a moment of sheer brilliance in stoppage time.
Three minutes into added time, the 26-year-old executed a stunning bicycle kick inside the box, sending the ball past Kocuk and sparking wild celebrations among the home supporters.
The acrobatic strike sealed his brace and secured a vital victory for the league leaders.
The brace marked Osimhen’s strongest performance since returning from a hamstring injury sustained during the November international break.
After a quiet outing in the Istanbul Derby against Fenerbahçe, his resurgence provides a significant boost to manager Okan Buruk ahead of the club’s UEFA Champions League meeting with Monaco on Tuesday.
