Osimhen warms up for Afcon with clinical finish in Galatasaray's rout of Antalyaspor

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has put his Champions League disappointment against Monaco behind him, scoring as Galatasaray cruised to a comfortable 4–1 victory over Antalyaspor on Saturday evening.

The Nigerian forward, who endured a quiet outing in the 1–0 defeat to Monaco, made amends in the second half at the Corendon Airlines Park Antalya Stadium by netting Galatasaray’s third goal.

Latching onto a sublime pass from Yunus on the left flank, Osimhen drove toward goal with a brilliant run before unleashing a powerful strike from a tight angle to double the advantage.

Roland Sallai, Leroy Sané, and Mario Icardi were also on target for the champions and further strengthened their grip on top spot in the league.

Osimhen’s strike took his tally against Antalyaspor to five goals in three appearances, cementing the hosts as one of his favourite opponents in the Super Lig.

However, despite his impressive display, the Nigerian international was shown a late yellow card, meaning he will serve a suspension.

The 26-year-old is expected to link up with the Super Eagles on Monday, December 15, ahead of the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Osimhen will be pleased to head into the biennial tournament on a positive note, as he looks to help Nigeria clinch a fourth AFCON title following their failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
