Manchester United were reportedly offered the chance to sign teammate of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen at SSC Napoli, Hirving Lozano but decided against signing the Mexican forward.
Osimhen was linked with a move to Old Trafford in a possible swap deal involving Cristiano Ronaldo but it is understood that the Super Eagles striker was not the only Napoli player with the possibility of becoming a United signing in the summer.
Speaking on his YouTube page, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reveals that indeed Lozano was one of 15 players that were offered to Erik ten Hag in the summer transfer window as they became desperate for new incomings.
The ever reliable Italian journalist noted that after deals for Adrien Rabiot and Marko Arnautovic failed after fans' backlash, the club tried to sign Leonardo Paredes but the latter chose to join Juventus.
Then came an offer from Juventus to sell American international Weston McKennie which the United hierarchy turned down.
United considered a deal for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo but the Seagulls were not keen on selling him while offers to sign Barcelona's Sergio Dest, Chelsea's Christian Pulisic and Atletico Madrid's Yannick Carrasco fell through.
United settled for Real Madrid's defensive midfielder Casemiro as well as £85m signing Antony from Erik ten Hag’s former club, Ajax.
United eventually did not sell Diogo Dalot for Dest as numerous news outlets anticipated but United were able to convince Lisandro Martinez to ditch an offer from Arsenal, as one of Ten Hag's former players joined the club and has been producing good performances in central defence.
