The Football Association of Zambia are in the driving seat to secure the services of former Charlton Athletic striker Bupe Okeowo, who has cited Chelsea legend Didier Drogba as her role model.
Born in Lusaka to a Zambian mother and Nigerian father, Okeowo is eligible to represent the Super Falcons through her father.
Four years ago, the center forward revealed she has Nigerian roots and would love to represent the Super Falcons internationally but nothing materialized.
The Zambia FA has informed that Okeowo is currently in the country (see photo) to work out a possible switch to the Copper Queens ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Zambia are one of Africa's representative at this summer's Olympics in Japan, where they will face China, Brazil and Netherlands in Group F.
Okeowo and her handlers have met with FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala and Technical Director Lyson Zulu to lay the ground for possible induction into the Copper Queens structure.
The 28-year-old directly participated in 75 goals (52 goals, 23 assists) during her three-year association with Norrland Sunnana in Sweden before switching to Sandvikens IF in May 2020.
