PL2: Chelsea defender Tosin watches son of ex-Super Eagles LB in action against Leeds United

Nigeria Football Federation target Tosin Adarabioyo was among the first-team players in attendance at Cobham on Friday as Chelsea U21s were held to a 2-2 draw by Leeds United in Premier League 2.

According to Chelsea’s official website, coach Liam Rosenior, alongside Levi Colwill, Liam Delap, and Cole Palmer, were also present for the match, which saw Romeo Lavia start for the development squad.

Tosin also got a close look at two teenagers of Nigerian descent who started for Chelsea U21s: defenders Landon Emenalo and Tayo Subuloye.

Landon is the son of Nigeria’s 1994 World Cup star Michael Emenalo, who rose up the pecking order of left-backs during the tournament in the United States following an injury to Benedict Iroha.

Chelsea squandered a two-goal lead, allowing Leeds United to level the score at 2-2, with Rhys Chadwick equalising eight minutes from time.

Leo Cardoso and Shumaira Mheuka had given Chelsea a two-goal advantage before Freddie Lane pulled one back shortly after the hour mark.

In the final ten minutes, Emenalo came close to scoring his first ever goal in Premier League 2, only to see his effort rebound off the post.

The Arizona-born Emenalo is provisionally cap-tied to England after featuring for the Young Lions in a European U17 Championship qualifier against Malta in October 2024.
