MLS outfit Portland Timbers bolstered their ranks by signing Fanendo Adi, 23, on a short - term loan from FC Copenhagen at the start of this week.<br /><br />Manager Caleb Porter had limited options in attack with only&nbsp; Maximiliano Urruti and Gaston Fernandez available for selection after Frederic Piquionne was granted compassionate leave to attend to urgent family matters.<br /><br />&ldquo;With Adi, you get a guy that&rsquo;s good in the air, a guy that can hold the ball up, so we&rsquo;re obviously excited to have a third striker and a third option.<br /><br />&ldquo;More than anything we needed someone to replace Freddy, plain and simple,&rdquo;&nbsp; Caleb Porter told the official website, timbers.com.<br /><br />Fanendo Adi, who is still in Copenhagen, will join his new teammates sometime next week and that&rsquo;s subject to a successful visa application. <br /><br /><br />
